What's covered?

Renault Extended Warranty covers the cost of parts and labour in the event of a mechanical or electrical failure of the covered components up to the claims limits outlined in the Policy Document and your Welcome Letter. Renault Extended Warranty covers an extensive list of components for failure in the UK which includes Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. It is also valid in the European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) for up to 60 days a year. To see exactly what’s covered, please refer to the Policy Document.

What's not covered?

Renault Extended Warranty provides a high level of cover, but doesn’t cover consumables or items which are designed to wear and will need replacing with time. For a full list of what’s excluded please refer to the Policy Document.

Are labour charges covered?

Yes – Renault Extended Warranty covers parts, labour and VAT as outlined in your Policy Document.

What are the servicing requirements?

It is a condition of this warranty that your vehicle is serviced in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer’s guidelines by an authorised dealer. Services must be carried out within 1,000 miles/one month of the intervals specified by the vehicle manufacturer, whichever comes first.

What does 'wear and tear' mean?

Wear and tear means the gradual reduction in operating performance due to the age and mileage of the vehicle. This is not covered by the warranty.

Can I take out cover after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired?

Unfortunately not.

Can I use any repairer? / Where can I get my car repaired?

We recommend that you use a Renault approved repairer as they will be fully equipped to repair your vehicle to the highest standard. Should that not be possible, and you need to make alternative arrangements, please ensure that your chosen repairer is VAT registered and contacts our Renault Extended Warranty claims team (0844 573 8035) before proceeding with any work.

Is breakdown or recovery included?

No, but if you do not already have Renault Assistance you will be covered for the cost of towing your vehicle to a repairer up to a maximum of £60.

Are existing faults covered?

Unfortunately, we can’t cover existing faults with your vehicle. You should have these faults rectified by a Renault authorised repairer before purchasing a Renault Extended Warranty.

Can I buy a Renault Extended Warranty if I don’t drive a Renault?

No - Renault Extended Warranty is designed specifically for Renault vehicles.

How can I pay for my Renault Extended Warranty?

You can pay for Renault Extended Warranty by using a credit or a debit card. A Monthly Renewing option is also available - payable by 10 monthly Direct Debits at no extra cost.

How soon can I make a valid claim?

You can make a claim as soon as your policy is registered with us – there's no waiting period. However if the failure occurred before your policy was registered your claim will not be covered.

Will I have to pay for repairs myself and then claim the money back afterwards?

No, Renault Extended Warranty will pay the repairing dealer direct for all authorised work up to the claims limit outlined in the Policy Document. However, if repairs are needed while you are abroad, you will need to pay the bill first and then contact our Customer Services Team on your return to the UK.

Am I covered for car hire while repairs are carried out?

Renault Extended Warranty will pay for car hire for up to five days (£40 per day maximum) as outlined in your Policy Document. Please note that we can’t cover car hire during the first 8 hours that you are without your vehicle. The cost of insurance, fuel and ancillary expenses are not included. Car hire must be from a Renault dealer or a recognised car hire company.

What happens if my car breaks down abroad?

If you break down abroad, you should have the car fixed locally and then contact us on your return to the UK to arrange for any reimbursement. Please ensure you obtain a full receipt for any work carried out. Unfortunately, we can't liaise or authorise repairs directly with repairers overseas.

What happens if I’m not happy with the service?

We hope you won't need to make a complaint, but if you're not happy with the service provided, you should call Renault Extended Warranty Customer Services on 0844 573 8035. Please quote your vehicle registration number to ensure your enquiry is dealt with promptly. We'll do our best to resolve your query straight away, in line with the complaints process outlined in the Policy Document. Should you not be satisfied with the initial resolution of your complaint, you will still be entitled to complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

What if I sell my car - can I transfer my warranty?

Yes, you can transfer your warranty to the new owner as long as you sell your car privately. You’ll just need to complete the Transfer of Ownership Form at the back of the Policy Document. Please note that the warranty needs to be fully paid for before it can be transferred.

Can I get warranty cover if my vehicle will be used for hire or reward?

Unfortunately, if you use your vehicle for hire or reward (taxis, private hire vehicles, minicabs or driving schools) we are unable to provide you with cover. We're also unable to provide cover for vehicles used in any competitive motoring event or as a public service vehicle.

If you want to modify your vehicle in any way, you should contact us for approval first – please see the Policy Document for details.

What if I change my mind?

If you change your mind, you've got a 14-day cooling-off period during which we’ll make a full refund if you haven’t made a claim. Please call us on 0844 573 8035 and speak to our Customer Services Team.

Can I get warranty cover for a company car?

Yes, Renault Extended Warranty is available for any eligible privately registered Renault car.

Do I still need normal car insurance if I have a Renault Extended Warranty?

Yes, you do. Renault Extended Warranty is not an accident insurance product, so you still need to insure your car.
